Demand Signals

Demand signals are real-time indicators of emerging interest in topics relevant to your client's industry. They help your calendar stay ahead of trends instead of chasing them.

How signals become calendar items

  1. Rankup monitors configured sources for topics related to your client's industry and strategic targets
  2. When a topic appears across multiple sources or gains significant engagement, it becomes a demand signal
  3. During calendar synthesis, demand signals boost the convergence score of matching keyword targets
  4. New signals that don't match existing targets are surfaced as potential opportunities

Signal strength

Each signal has a strength indicator based on:

  • Engagement - upvotes, comments, shares across platforms
  • Recency - more recent signals score higher
  • Cross-platform presence - topics appearing on multiple platforms score higher
  • Relevance - how closely the topic matches strategic targets

Configuration

You can configure which sources to monitor and which subreddits or RSS feeds to track in the signal settings. HackerNews monitoring is enabled by default and requires no API key.
